Joseph Syren
Joseph Syren, CPA, hails from Anchorage, Alaska, where he works as an auditor. Joseph received his Master’s degree in Accountancy from Gonzaga University, while participating in the University’s Men’s chorus. Joseph’s musical interests include Gregorian chant under the interpretation of Dom Cardine (Gregorian Semiology), organ accompaniment, and Znamenny Chant (Russian Orthodox Chant).
Joseph’s love of music stems from an early exposure to choral music as he participated in choirs, operas, and schola (liturgical choirs) throughout Alaska. He has served as the director of the schola for St. Therese’s Chapel in Anchorage, AK since 2023. Joseph remains convinced that the study and execution of both sacred and secular music are integral parts of a youth’s formation as a child of God. He looks forward to working with the Middle School Men’s Choir this fall. His hope is to instill in students a deeper love of music by leading their active participation in choral performance.
